Evening Update: "Time Is Running Out"

U.S. Hints At Red Line, Warns Iran "Time Is Running Out"

Don't forget - almost everything the U.S. administration does right now, ultimately, has to do with the upcoming elections in mind. Because of Romney's recent surge in the polls, is it possible that the U.S. administration considers that going to war with Iran could actually serve as a boost in the polls? Often, in American politics, the public will rally behind U.S. leadership in a time of war. At least some food for thought:

The United States sternly warned Iran Thursday that “time is running out” for its unsupervised nuclear program in what may be thinly-veiled support for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who has badgered President Barack Obama to set a “red line” for Iran.

"We will not engage in an endless process of negotiations that fail to produce any results. We must therefore remain clear and united in seeking resolution of the internationalcommunity's concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program. Time is wasting," Ambassador Rice said told a United Nations Security Council meeting on nuclear sanctions against Iran.
Support for the strong warning came from Britain, whose ambassador to the United Nations, Mark Lyall Gran, told the meeting that Iran is “at a crossroads.” France also backed the American position.

The Obama and Bush administrations have previously issued similar warnings, but the timing of Rice’s statement is significant. It follows a month-long campaign by Prime Minister Netanyahu to keep the Iranian nuclear threat in the headlines, resulting in an indirect confrontation between him and President Obama over “red lines” and deadlines, which the president has refused to set.
Rice’s harsh words also come exactly a week before Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to deliver what has become an annual address to the opening post-summer session of the UN General Assembly.

The US, Britain and France warned Iran Thursday that time was running out for a diplomatic solution to curb its nuclear program. The statements come days after a third round in talks between Iran and the P5+1 group — the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — ended with no progress beyond milquetoast statements of “constructive” negotiations.“Time is wasting,” US Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice told a UN Security Council meeting on nuclear sanctions against Iran. “The international community should continue to underscore that Iran must take meaningful steps or face increasing pressure. Yet, we cannot and we will not pursue this path indefinitely. We will not engage in an endless process of negotiations that fail to produce any results.”

Meanwhile, Iran continues to give the same answer - the same answer they have been giving for years -  that they have absolutely no intentions of discontinuing their nuclear development - regardless of sanctions

Why is the U.S., the UN, the EU, Russia, etc. not hearing this message? Iran couldn't be more clear:

Iran will persist in making its own decisions and will not be swayed from its course by Western powers and their sanctions, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech on Tuesday.

Iran ”does not accept the demands of any superpower” and “makes its decisions solely based on the interests of its people and the country, even if all of the world’s powers get angry at its decisions,” he said, according to an AFP translation of the speech, which was posted on Khamenei’s website on Wednesday.

Scott, pretty soon at the rate things are going you're gonna have to do a morning post, a noon post, an evening post then a nightly update. because by nightfall the morning post will be old news. such is the rate prophetic things are unfolding

I was actually thinking that myself!
Then, the next stage would be continuous updates, with no pauses. Like a running scroll. :)

Im of the opinion that this "drill"/"war game" is a front to have our peeps in play for the show down to begin. What do we have now, 6 warships in the region? Scott, have you ever thought about doing like a mass text to the regular crowd her for breaking news (Israel attacks) so that we could all be alerted? That would be cool, I know there are days I'm not checking as often as I'd like to...just a thought.

Scott, and then you'll have to give up medicine and everything else you do, like eating and sleeping.

JD - I'm almost there now!

David - its not a bad idea, but how (logistically) would I do something like that?)

Nathan - these days it almost sounds plausible!

Scott,

Maybe the alert idea David brought up could be done via Twitter. I'm not super familiar with it (maybe someone else here knows more about it).

Just a thought.

Thanks for everything you do now. This site is truly a blessing.

I do know that my last 8 years in law enforcement I served in SWAT. After hours when we had a call out the alerts went to cell phones ( smart phones). I know I can email or message by text my computer from my cell but I'm not sure if it is possible the other way around. Hmmmm, have to check that.

I'm in North Carolina, and my house is in the flight path for commercial and military planes. For the past two days I have seen at least 10 to 15 C 130's flying out but not returning. There's definitely military movement going on.
