OWS Protesters Calling For "Day of Action"

It looks like the OWS 'protesters' are going to take it up a notch:

OWS Protesters Calling For 3-Course Meal Of Demonstrations Thursday"

It’s not over yet. In fact, it may be just beginning.

New York City leaders are warning that thousands of protesters could converge on Manhattan on Thursday. The NYPD is now getting ready for the next stage of “Occupy Wall Street” protests, reports CBS 2′s Marcia Kramer.

It may have looked peaceful at Zuccotti Park during what was a soggy Wednesday afternoon, but city officials are sounding alarm about Thursday, warning of mass disruptions in all five boroughs.

And it may not be pretty.

One has to wonder if this will really happen. Thus far the crowds have been pretty small:

"We are certainly anticipating tens of thousands of people protesting, aimed at significant disruptions of the lives of the people of this city,” Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson said.

It was an unusual impromptu press conference called by City Hall to share intelligence about an international “day of action” by Occupy Wall Street on the movement’s two-month anniversary. Deputy Mayors Cass Holloway and Wolfson said they expect it to be big, but they said the NYPD is ready.

Already angry over their eviction from Zuccotti Park, the protesters are planning breakfast, lunch, and dinner protests on Thursday:

The breakfast plan is to “shut down” Wall Street. It’s all expected to start with a rally in Liberty Square starting at 7 a.m. to “put an end to Wall Street’s reign of terror.”

The lunch menu will feature protesters looking to “occupy” the subways in all five boroughs. They plan on gathering at 16 subways stations to take their message to the trains.

And dinner is set up as a takeover of Foley Square, followed by a march to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Maybe tomorrow will be interesting as the loose coalition of unions, Marxist and Nazi groups and disillusioned college students band together.

Violence has already been suggested:

Zuccotti Park protester Nkrumah Tinsley arrested after threatening to burn down city

A protester was arrested in Zuccotti Park Wednesday after he threatened to fire bomb the city — and his rant went viral on YouTube, police said.

Nkrumah Tinsley, 29, was busted after cops saw a video of him claiming he would torch the city during Thursday’s mass protest posted online, police said.

City braces for 'tens of thousands' of protesters set to march on Financial District

The occupation at Zuccotti Park may be over, but wary city officials are bracing for trouble tomorrow when a mob of that could number in the “tens of thousands” is expected to answer Occupy Wall Street’s call to shut down the Financial District.

“Everything that we have seen and heard suggests that we may have tens of thousands of people tomorrow protesting.

The protesters are calling for a massive event aimed at disrupting major parts of the city,” Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson told reporters this afternoon.

Wolfson and Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway said all city agencies are on notice and extra cops will be on hand for the massive demonstrations - which could disrupt the morning commute and be among the largest in city history.

Zuccotti cleanup disgusting even for sanitation workers

City sanitation workers yesterday were forced to pick through a filthy pile of property seized from Zuccotti Park including dirty hypodermic needles, moldy food and glass-littered, broken gadgets.

“I pick up garbage [for a living], and these were some of the worst smells I’ve ever experienced,’’ one worker grumbled to The Post.

About 150 trashmen stuffed the massive pile of soiled tents, old bikes and spoiling food into dump trucks — 26 loads in all — and hauled it to a West 57th Street Sanitation facility so that workers could begin sorting the personal goods from garbage.

I can say there isn't much enthusiasm for this stuff here in Australia. But when people start loosing their jobs and way of life...watch out. It's amazing how prosperity deadens a soul.

Steve may I suggest bro that you do come across as wearing your heart on your sleeve a little too much. And some of us are a bit too cutting in our replies as well. Hang in there Steve and relax and enjoy the ride and the company of the other Christians.

Your brother Dave.

Stephen,

I for one generally enjoy reading your posts, along with most of the other posts on this blog. Some of the bickering here, which seems to be getting more frequent, is becoming tiresome though.

It seems to me there are very few places in society anymore, and in the faces of people I come across and know, where I see God. Evil is all around and I don't see it getting any better. In fact, I see it getting worse and people growing further from God.

I suppose my point is that this is a time in which, despite our various differences, we should be sticking together and celebrating the fact that we all know the Lord. We should all be thankful for forums like Scott's blog where we can come together.

God bless.
