Tens of thousands of Egyptians demanding an end to military rule converged on Cairo's Tahrir square on Friday in what activists say will be the biggest day yet in a week of demonstrations in which 41 people have been killed.
The military men who took over after people power toppled deposed president Hosni Mubarak on Feb. 11 are themselves under fire from protesters who accuse them of clinging to power, leading to street battles that look like a replay of February's unrest.
The military rulers say they are working on a transition of power, including parliamentary elections set for Monday, which could be overshadowed if violence continues. Some protesters say the army cannot be trusted to hold a clean vote.
Activists sought to bring a million people into the streets of Cairo on what they dubbed "the Friday of the last chance".
Thousands flooded into Tahrir Square for prayers, where Sheikh Mazhar Shahin told worshipers the protest would go on until Egypt had a new salvation government.

In the past year developments in the Middle East have taught the experts (once known as "Orientalists" ) not to risk making predictions. Still, given the events in Egypt in the past week, it would be far more than a calculated gamble to claim that the Muslim Brotherhood is on the way to becoming the largest party in the Egyptian parliament.
The fact is that the military had a partner in stealing the revolution: the Muslim Brotherhood. This movement, founded in 1928, was persecuted until the fall of Mubarak. Now the military council is consulting and proceeding, almost arm in arm, with it.
The alternatives Israel will face, with regard to most of the countries in the region in the years ahead, range from those in which radical Islam of the relatively moderate variety rules - such as in Turkey, Tunisia and possibly Egypt - and those where anarchy or even more radical Islam hold sway, such as in Yemen, Libya and of course Syria, Lebanon and Iran.
Turkey says it won't tolerate Syria bloodshed
Turkey said on Friday it could tolerate no more bloodshed in Syria and it was ready to take action with Arab powers if President Bashar Assad failed to take steps towards ending the crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators.

Hamas: Israeli threats won't stop unity gov't
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal responded to discontent in Jerusalem surrounding a united Palestinian government with Hamas and Fatah sharing power, saying Friday that threats from the Israeli government "do not scare us."
Mashaal was responding to a statement made by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Wednesday that Israel would not transfer tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority were it to form a unified government with Hamas.
At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom (Likud) criticized the Palestinian Authority for engaging Hamas, saying such moves disturbed any chance of jump-starting the defunct peace process.
Speaking to Army Radio, Shalom said that despite Israeli efforts to renew the diplomatic process with the Palestinian Authority, the political reconciliation between the historically rivaling Palestinian factions shows their disinterest in reconnecting with Jerusalem.
Former Mossad Head Yatom: Israel Can't Afford Not To Strike Iran
The Begin Sadat Center, a respected think tank based at Bar Ilan University, held a conference on November 23, 2011 on the subject of "Israeli Security in a New Regional Envornment", which focused on the so-called "Arab Spring" and its implicatons. Its experts concluded that the Arab Spring is not going to result in democracy, despite original hopes in the West, and may make things even worse for Israel.
"As steep as the price for hitting Iran may be, a military strike on Iran will be less painful than the cost of living with an Iranian nuclear weapons threat," argues former Mossad head Maj. Gen. (res.) Danny Yatom.
"The backlash from a strike on Iran's nuclear sites will not be as bad for Israel as will an Iran armed with nuclear weapons," he says. "I don't think that those predicting apocalyptic repercussions of a strike on Tehran are correct, and even if they are, Israel can't afford to wonder if Tehran will go crazy and bomb us."
It is impossible to stake the nation's security on predictions by those who claim a nuclear Iran can be deterred and that the Iranian regime would not launch a nuclear attack, Yatom added.

He acknowledged that rocket attacks would likely ensue from Lebanon and Gaza following a Western or Israeli strike against Iran, but added that Israel's response would be "so painful and crushing that rockets will come to an end.

The world does not have much time left to act on Iran, the former Mossad head warned, adding that "there is an evaluation that they have crossed the red line. They have the knowledge to make the bomb. All that is needed now is the decision to do it.... The world has a year in which to halt the Iranian nuclear weapons program, probably less."
Miami-protest spokesman led "Nuke Israel" rally
The recent executive director of the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations' South Florida chapter is a founder and spokesman of Occupy Miami, WND has learned.
Mohammad Malik currently is as an activist with several other Islamic groups.
He has led hate-filled anti-Israel protests in which participants were filmed wearing Hamas paraphernalia while chanting "Nuke Israel" and "Go back to the oven" – a reference to Jews being killed in the Holocaust.
Malik has been widely quoted in the Florida news media in recent weeks speaking for Occupy Miami.

The Catechism says: ‘When I say that the Pope is infallible, I mean that the Pope cannot err when, as Shepherd and Teacher of all Christians, he defines a doctrine concerning faith or morals, to be held by the whole church’ (Article 93).
The Catechism goes on to say that ‘the Church cannot err in what she teaches as to faith or morals, for she is our infallible guide in both… The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him.’ (Article 100).
The Bible tells us that only God is infallible and that all human individuals and institutions are tainted by sin and liable to error. ‘For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3.23).
The sole authority for fixing Christian doctrine is the Bible, not fallible human beings. In fact the Catholic Church has a long history of misinterpreting the Bible, forbidding ordinary people to read it and opposing its translation and distribution to the laity. In 1229 the Council of Toulouse, Canon 14 stated: ‘We prohibit also that the laity should be permitted to have the books of the Old or New Testament.’
When people read the Bible for themselves they soon realise that there is a huge gulf between what the Lord Jesus and the Apostles taught and what the Catholic Church has taught them.
The hierarchy of priests going up to the Pope as ‘Vicar of Christ’ on earth entirely conflicts with the concept Jesus taught the disciples about spiritual authority.
Jesus told us not to call any man ‘Father’ (Papa / Pope). ‘But you, do not be called Rabbi; for one is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for one is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for one is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant’ (Matthew 23.8-11).

Greetings and blessings to all! I thought I would share something that is going on locally here in Richmond, Va. that I found interesting and well slightly prophetic. The local very upscale snooty outdoor mall here is called Short Pump Towncenter. They are one of only 2 malls in the country doing this but you and I know there will be more to follow. They latch on to you cellphone i.d. number and follow you around the mall to see where you are going and how long you stay in each store. They even have someway to see what you buy and how much you spend! And they apparently can do this with your phone cut off even.
So if a retailer can do this, imagine what type of surveilance others can do! Channel 12 our local NBC affiliate ran a story on it a day or two ago.
I hope all had a beautiful Thanksgiving! There is much to be thankful for even though I have lost all recently. I still have the freely given gift of my savior's blood and that is worth everything. I'm trying to see my losses as a cleansing, a way to realize really all we need is him, and that he is coming so very soon, I won't need any of it anyway.

Also did you know that the catholic church has altered cut and pasted the Ten Commandments. It's believed in the church that the Pope being "Vicor of Christ" or virtually God on earth has the right, power, authority and blessing of God to change at will and of necessity the Holy scriptures(my interpretation).
As a result of this self appointed "gall" a pope long gone has changed the Commandments to the following: the second has been done away with and the third is now second. The tenth has been divided up into two to make up to ten in the catholic version.
The Catholics state that Sunday is the true sabbath while the judeo-Christian bible says that Saturday is the true sabbath.
The catholic church says that the very fact that Protestant church's worship on Sunday rather than Saturday shows that they acknowledge the authority of the church and the changes she has made to scripture (IMO we should get back to the true sabbath and worship on Saturday).
I've put all of the above in my own words mostly because I'm using my phone however the info is there and this organisation which has already slaughterd millions Christians in the dark ages is not to be brushed of just a harmless charitable organisation. They have never lost their lust for power and the desire to bring the world back under its authoritative, dictatorial rule. EI has shown that through her posts. They spent 1260 years ruling the world who's to say they won't try it again. Dave.

The Sabbath was inaugurated for Jewish worship for the nation of Israel; runs from 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday – the evening and the morning of 24 hours. The Sabbath was for the Jewish Nation and has nothing to do with the Church who is set free from keeping the Jewish law.
It was on the first day of the week (Sunday) that Jesus rose from the dead that it is now called ‘The Lord’s Day’ when many Christians choose to remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross with the communion. Sunday is NOT classed as the Sabbath and was originally an ordinary work-day.

That's a dangerous premise -directly contradicting Jesus! Once you adhere to a great error you're just going to fall into more error.
That's just my opinion EI. I'm not going to get back into the SDA thing again with you except to say if we want to follow the commandments as a way of life it would be a good practice to do it properly, not perfectly but properly. After all they are God's commandments not the SDA church's.
As far as me being caught up in the errors of the church I will turn the other cheek. I've already layed down position with regards to the church dear lady.
Due to the contentious nature of some of us we probably need to remember not to argue with people about what they think is right or wrong. Of which I'm guilty. It would be terrible if this was to descend into another ocurrance as was seen last week.
Be not afraid I'm not out the change the doctrinal flavor of this forum as I'm one of them. I do like to compare different beliefs and to see where they lie with current world events. God bless you all. Dave

We worship on the Sabbath (Saturday) because it reminds us of the rest we will receive in His kingdom. It acts as a tutor and a physical picture of a spiritual truth to come. I don't understand EI's persecution of Dave. I can't wait until Friday evening....my family anticipates our gathering on the Sabbath all week because it is such a fun gathering. There is NOTHING legalistic about it at all nor does it take away from the fact that Jesus rose from the grave and paid the price for our justification. It is a celebration and a time to talk about what it will be like when we enter our rest in His kingdom.
That's not a problem my friend, I didn't take it personally. I'm kicking myself taking things further. Anyway Doc let's back to Jesus and his dropping by to pick us up.

For whatever it is worth, we attend a large Protestant church, which is not Catholic, as we know the Catholics often have Saturday masses.
Due to overflowing crowds in the Sunday services, they have opened up 2 Saturday PM services. We would prefer Sunday, but moved to Saturday and it is nice to avoid some of the Sunday crowds. It also helps some of the people (nurses, etc) who may not be able to attend on Sunday AM.
We attend Saturday along with others, due to a request from the pastor and elders to "free up" some space on Sundays for new people, who will typically come on Sunday AM.
I consider this temporary and still prefer Sunday AM. Diane

When I read the above phrase, it was for the benefit of the other readers that I made this an issue as it was also the opinion of Judaisers in the early days of the Church.
The ‘Lord’s Day’, so called in honour of Christ’s Resurrection on the first working day of the week, is NOT the Sabbath (rest) when no work was to be done by the NATION of ISRAEL in accordance to the Old Covenant law. This Covenant was made between God and Israel, it was merely a shadow of what was to come, and it could not SAVE, neither was it designed to save but was evidence of how fallen man could never, ever live up to God’s perfect standard, represented by the Perfect law.
It was a temporary, two sided covenant broken by Israel before Moses had returned from the Mount with the ‘Contract’ The Levitical sacrifices, with the blood of animals, could only ‘cover’ temporarily and had to be repeated continuously. There were no chairs in the Temple.
The Old Covenant is null and void and the New Covenant in Christ’s Blood was ratified on the cross; not to merely ‘cover’ sin temporarily, but to totally CLEANSE from ALL sin. Jesus our High Priest has finished His work and is now SEATED at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us and to wait until the Father gives the Son the Nations to rule. Jesus is the rightful Heir to David’s throne, but has not yet come into His inheritance which will begin with the 1000 year Messianic Rule on earth.
The New Covenant is also made with Israel (Jer.31:31) NOT with the Church, who are partakers of the New Covenant BLESSINGS meant for the nation of Israel who will come to Jesus in the Tribulation. The Jew/Gentile Church; is not a nation but Christ’s Body/Bride. The Church is NOT spiritual Israel.
The book of Hebrews was specifically addressed to former Levitical Priests who, under persecution for accepting Jesus as Messiah, wanted to return to the law until such a time as it was safe to be Christian again. Paul explained that is not possible to return to the law as there are no longer any sacrifices to ‘cover’. That problem was solved in AD 70 when Rome destroyed the Temple – the temptation to ‘go back’ became impossible.
The Jewish day of rest, the Sabbath, has nothing to do with the Church. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. At His Ascension, Jesus entered into the Sabbath of His rest and we NOW rest IN Him.
Concerning WORSHIP, we are free to worship with others on whatever day is convenient to the group. Others do not lay aside a particular day, and see all days alike to fellowship with God. We have no right to judge anyone on a ‘day’.
Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death – Praise The Lord and walk in it!
The Mosaic Covenant

B. The Participants in the Covenant
The parties involved in this pact were God and Israel. The covenant was made with Israel and not merely with Moses acting as a representative of Israel. The covenant was not made with the Gentiles or the Church, but with Israel only, a point also made in Deuteronomy 4:7-8; Psalm 147:19-20; and Malachi 4:4…
7. The Sabbath
And the seventh point in the status of the Mosaic Covenant is that the Sabbath was the sign, seal, and token of the Mosaic Covenant. As long as that covenant was in effect, the Sabbath law was mandatory. Since the Law of Moses has been rendered inoperative, then the Sabbath
command no longer applies. Those with their inconsistent insistence that the Law of Moses is still in effect, also insist that the Sabbath law applies. However, they totally ignore what Moses wrote about how to keep the Sabbath and they even change the day of the week, something that the Law of Moses does not allow. Many Jewish believers also insist on mandatory Sabbath keeping. Though they inconsistently base it on the Law of Moses, at least they retain it with the seventh day of the week.
The apologetics used for mandatory Sabbath keeping are almost exclusively based upon the Old Testament for obvious reasons: there is no New Testament commandment for believers in general or Jewish believers in particular to keep the Sabbath. The claim that Sabbath observance is part of the New Covenant is nowhere supported by the New Covenant Scriptures themselves. In fact, if anything, they would teach the opposite.”

Hi GU, yes we have had spring now for three months. Here in Brisbane we have had above av temperatures ie: 28-32 degree celsius days. Brisbane is sub-tropical and average temps should be around 25-27. So we have been getting basically summer temps. A couple of weeks ago we had a heat wave week; heat wave for spring anyway and temps were early to mid 30s which is hot for this time of the year.
Brisbane has had the driest record for November broken in 90 years. We went 23 days without any rain. There is another Lanina forming in the pacific AGAIN but this shouldn't bring devestation like last summer, in fact one long range forecaster is predicting a hot dry summer were as the the weather channel is predicting rain and flooding but not to the extent of last summer.
Summer in Brisbane is hot and muggy and the older I get(mid 40s now) the more I feel it and hate it. I've got some American city temps set up on my iPhone so as I can drewl as I watch your temps fall to cold, very cold and freezing lol!
Dave, I hear ya on the hot weather. I'm in the 40+ club as well and this year I didn't tolerate the heat very well. We had consecutive days of 100 F temps with heat indexes in the 110-118 F range. Ack! : P I've heard that since we have La Nina this year that the northern part of the US will get hammered with snow storms this winter. Yikes! REALLY looking forward to my heavenly home with climate control.
I'm the same way - working out in the heat now makes me feel sick - literally...The older I get the more I prefer fall/winter over spring/summer
