In the news

European debt crisis just won't go away

It started with a secretive meeting of European policy makers on Friday and was confirmed on Monday when Standard & Poor’s downgraded Greece’s debt further into junk status: Europe’s sovereign debt crisis is back.

The timing couldn’t be worse. With mounting fears the global recovery has peaked, investors are on edge and following last week’s violent commodity sell-off, escalating risks on the east side of the Atlantic are surely the last thing markets need.

Tensions about Europe have been simmering for most of this year, but started to heat up again Friday when rumours spread that Greece was quitting the euro and reports surfaced that European Union finance ministers were meeting secretively to discuss the ongoing crisis.

“Needless to say, if Greece exited the euro and defaulted, the impact on the markets could be pretty big,” he said.

“Indeed, as time goes on, we expect fears of a Greek euro exit to increase. With worries about Spain also likely to resurface, the euro-zone debt crisis may be entering a new and more dangerous phase.”

Russia flexes nuclear muscle on Victory Day

Some 20,000 soldiers and Russia's most advanced missiles rumbled across Red Square on Monday in a parade marking victory in World War II and reinforcing the country's belief in its Soviet-era might.

A well-rehearsed 1,500-piece orchestra set the tone to the procession by booming out festive marches as President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin watched from a podium in front of Lenin's mausoleum.

Medvedev and Putin -- both being watched under a political microscope with presidential elections less than a year away -- sat side by side and exchanged a few comments as soldiers goose-stepped across the polished cobblestone.

Egyptians Plan March to Gaza Additional Anti Israel Actions

Israel celebrates Independence Day according to the Jewish Calendar but for the Arabs the anniversary is 15 May. The Al Ahram website reports that as part of the push for a more hostile approach to Israel that followed the overthrow of the Mubarak regime some Egyptian groups plan to march to "Palestine" under the slogan “Cairo’s liberation will not be complete without the liberation of Al-Quds [Jerusalem].”

Scott-just 4 more days (because the m.e. is a day ahead of us) I encourage every one to pray about that day and the peace of jerusalem. Will it be another bump in the road, or more like a tipping point?-ally

"The professor said it is high time for Europe to propose a new mission, or what political scientists call 'messianic political legitimacy,' putting forward a vision or a dream of a new project that citizens are likely to support..."

Anon - thanks for that link and I too, found that quote very interesting....What a phrase to use right now.

Ally - Good question. We have so many tipping points floating around....This could be one of them - we shall see - stay tuned!

Scott...the crisis in Europe is not going away...just yet. if the AC comes from the e.u. then according to Daniel 2 its to be partly strong and partly weak... a perfect description of the eu today. we just need to see it more into I 10 nation confederacy after the war of gog and Magog. just my thoughts.

Partly strong and partly weak - indeed.

So you see the 10 kings stage occurring after Gog-MaGog, Hart?

It makes me so mad in school when they try to brainwash us into believing in evolution. Today I did the TIMSS exam, and one if the questions had pictures of a whale fin, a human arm and a pterodactyl wing. The question was "based on the similarities between these bones, what conclusion can be drawn?" and the correct answer was "all animals have a similar ancestor". And last year in science class, my teacher said "religion is good for some things, but creation is wrong and the scientific theory of evolution is right." I mean she was my favorite teacher, but when she said that something short circuited in my brain or something because I started twitching cause I was so shocked that a school system (where most of the kids are Mormon mind you because of where I live) would allow a teacher to straight out call creation wrong.

this is what I see scott... after gog and magog the only superpower left would be europe an israel. america destroyed by the rapture the entire middle east destroyed by the war that would create a huge power vac in the middle east. europe or the western roman empire would be in prime position to fill that power vacuum. that power vacuum consist of the eastern roman empire. voila you have the full revived roman empire immediately after the war. they would immediately sign a covant with israel and to stabilize the regions it would set up 5 leaders in the east and 5 in the west just like it in toes

hartdawg said...

that's just like the ten toes. so they would be very little gap between the war and the tribulation gap of maybe oh week or even a few days hence the 7 years burning weapons.

hartdawg said...

think about it scott... the legs were the roman empire east and west... and if you get a map the nations involved in Gog magog are the same as the eastern roman empire. and europe the same as the western empire and in daniel 2 we have 5 toes on each sides 5 east 5 th west. it really makes perfect sense.

Dylan... the public schools up here in washington state are just as bad the teacher say evolution is a proven fact with surmounting irrefutable evidence they also say george bush new 911 was coming and did nothing about it that's what the current events teachers say they also say bush murdered saddam hussein for oil and gas prices are so high because bus screwed up the economy an the problems in the middle east today is because of the wars bush started

hartdawg said...

these ar what history teachers and current events teachers actually teach in their classrooms. also say creation has absolutely no proof evolution is irrefutable

Dylan said...

I can't wait till the day they're proved wrong. And if God makes his presence irrefutable(as you say he will) before the rapture, then I have a feeling that day is coming soon. I want to refrain from being snobby, but I sure hope he makes his presence known to the world before the rapture so I CAN say "I told you!"

I'm right there with you.

Dylan, check out the links here under the Politics, Science, Etc. heading:

(caution: the "odds of evo" article is from a message board and the writer, though knowledgeable, conveys a very bad mood at the time.)

Dylan....Here are some questions for them:

- How was the first cell formed? If it was "spontaneous" (which is absurd) - then why can't this be replicated in the lab, when ALL of the cell components can be mixed together in favorable mediums? Its NEVER been done.

And - just for fun...Lets assume that a cell DID spontaneously form....To have "life" and "evolution" then such cell(s) have to divide....and for cells to divide they must have DNA....So how was the first DNA formed?

Do these people have ANY IDEA how complicated DNA is? A cell? Just something 'simple' like a cell membrane is incredibly complex...

In Darwin;'s day, they thought a cell was just a gelatinous mass....They has NO IDEA of the complexity of a cell.

I HIGHLY recommend "Creation" by Grant Jeffrey. Its a terrific read and it takes on the evolutionist faith head on.

There is NO absolutely NO evidence of evolution...

Also - ask them why almost all fossil life appeared at one time (Cambrian era)? Even darwin stated that if a progression in different life forms wasn't seen - then it would disprove evolution, and indeed there has NEVER been ANY progression of evolution seen in fossils.

Where are the "interim species"? Why have none ever been found?

and I'm just getting started :)

Hart - Very interesting comments...I want to give them some thought....

Dylan- is it still called "the theory of evolution"? ask your teacher and then ask her to explain what a theory is.-ally

Hi Dylan,

Where do you live? Most of the kids that my children go to school with are Mormon too. I feel so badly for them because they are horribly brainwashed. They use the same words as Christians so it makes it a challenge to witness to them. I recently watched this
http://www.sacredgrovesonline.org/videos/unveiling_grace.htm and it gave me such hope! Many Mormons are finding the real Jesus including the entire family shown in the video! For those that understand Mormonism and how deceived they are, that is a huge thank you Lord! Now they have a Christian band and tour the country to tell those lost in Mormons the Reason for their hope.
